Rhinebeck, NY – Former State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) issued the following statement on Governor Cuomo’s $1.66 billion property tax relief proposal:

“As a local government official during the start of the property tax cap era and a State Senator during the tax ‘freeze,’ it’s promising to see New York State take such a significant step towards cutting property taxes. I have long advocated with both upstate Democratic and Republican officials for a circuit breaker concept to deliver significant property tax relief to middle class homeowners and renters. Senate Republicans have tried to claim time and again that they are focused on tax relief and yet they are noncommittal in supporting this common sense initiative. Any negative rhetoric about this plan is nothing but partisan political posturing. This is a good plan for New York State, especially the Hudson Valley.”
