POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) received a perfect score from EPL/Environmental Advocates, the accountability arm of Environmental Advocates of New York, on their 2014 Environmental Scorecard.

Senator Gipson said, “As I travel around the beautiful Hudson Valley everyday, I’m reminded of how crucial protecting our environment is for the sake of our quality of life and local economy. During my first term I’ve fought to enact greater protections for the Hudson River from an oil train disaster and to keep fracking waste out of New York State. I have also been a tireless advocate for increased investments in renewable energy and environmental programs to help clean-up and revitalize our communities. I will continue to fight in the State Senate so that Dutchess and Putnam counties can look forward to a brighter and greener future.”

Peter Iwanowicz, Executive Director of EPL/Environmental Advocates, said, “In less than two years in office, Senator Gipson has built an impressive green record which demonstrates a keen understanding of how environmental protections and economic development work hand-in-hand. Whether the issue is oil trains, fracking, or clean water along the Hudson River, Senator Gipson has continually worked on – and voted for – what is in the best interests of the Hudson Valley.”
